If you don't have a well maintained hotel, it doesn't matter how close you are. Being on the beach can only get you so far. I have stayed in 4 and 5 star hotels with actual amenities and service for less than what they are charging. At least the fire extinguisher was close by! Living in Florida, I understand there are bugs, but having to deal with the baby roaches every time time we used the microwave was a bit much. I am pretty sure having the a/c unit plugged into a power strip, then to an extension cord that plugged into an outlet that was falling off the wall has got to be a fire hazard. The cabinet coating was literally falling off. It looks like they may have started doing some updates in the room (paint, linens, couch) but the kitchen was an embarrassment. We stayed at Haleys for one week and could not have picked a better place. It offers a great location just a few hundred yards from the beach, and lose to many restaurants. Old motel updated as best it can be meet the needs of today. Mostly a quiet motel, however 1 night we had noisy neighbors keeping us awake until 12:00. Although the weather was colder than we would have liked our room and the staff couldn't have been any better. My husband and I loved Haley's Couples Retreat. This is very close to the beach and our favorite was within walking distance both. We had a great kitchen and sitting area and a wonderful bedroom and snug bath.
